7 Steps To Salon Retail Heaven for 2010

Over 90% of all hair products bought in the UK are bought over the counter on the high street, with Tesco recently being voted "Best haircare retailer" in the "Hair magazine awards 2007" meaning most salons are losing out on a MASSIVE amount of extra revenue. In other countries like Australia, for example, the vast majority of hair products are actually bought in-salon due to stylist and client education and stylists being seen as the hair care experts that they are.

The purpose of this particular blog will be to discuss all the various ways that a stylist, whether a 30 year pro or a new student just out of cosmetology school can market themselves and their salon. Many trades people not only don't think about marketing as a direct link to a solid income but they don't spend any time trying to learn about marketing for themselves.

How to Spot Good Hairdressers

Administrator Posted by: Administrator |
Tagged in: hairdressers
A great article I found recently.

I am dedicating this article to folks that consistently move from town to town, or perhaps just haven't found a london hairstylist that gives them the haircut or the hair color they desire.

Some of the tips I give to my clients is to go visit a couple of london hair salons and sit there and watch london hairdressers. Not only look for how they cut hair, there are other things you want to pay attention to.

Get a sense of the salon the second you walk in, look around and feel the energy around you, make a decision as weather the hair salon is amiable, make sure they acknowledge your presence and causes you to feel comfortable. You can ask or let them know you just want to sit around and see the way in which the stylist cut hair because you're attempting to find a new hairdresser.

Watch closely how hairdressers take care of their customers, spot how they acknowledge their customers, how they greet them, and most importantly the way the consultation goes.

Communication plays a big part in the task of the result, that's sometimes one of the first mistakes of a hairdresser make.

The use of pictures is a great thing that every hairdresser should use, that is why it is always appreciated from a hairdresser when a customer brings in a picture. A picture talks a thousand words, and unless you are colorblind, you and the hairdresser are having a look at the same colours in the hair, and are looking at the same haircut shape and style in that picture. There is not a better outline of what you want than a picture.

A hairstylist should ask you to clarify all your questions and concerns, you should not feel rushed, the art of getting your hair done is an experience you should enjoy and relax, not the other way around.

So, go out there and visit our victoria salon or baker street salon  and see how their clientele are treated, I'm hoping you find this useful.
