Session Stylist - Tyler Johnston

While the hairdressing world is filled with many creative talents, few session stylists can claim that their haircuts have made headlines.Tyler Johnston is the man responsible for keeping David Beckham`s hair in the news - and was notably the mastermind behind  the Mohican back in 2001 - the most talked about men`s hairstyle to date.

His adventurous approach and technical brilliance are why he has become one of the industry`s most sought after session stylists today.
PORTFOLIO AND CLIENTS

Tyler Johnston represents the cream of British talent and relishes the demands of session stylists work where fashion editors depend on his professional focus.

His hectic session stylists work schedule includes fashion editorial work and working with designers like Camilla Staerk, John Richmond, Justin Oh, Tata Naka during the international show season in Paris, Milan, New York, Australia, and London, as well as supporting a portfolio of high-profile personal clients.

His session stylists portfolio includes work for Italian Vogue, English Vogue, Japanese Vogue, German Vogue, Visionnaire, W Magazine, The Face, ID, 10 Magazine, Dazed & Confused, Adidas, John Richmond, Pop and L'Uomo Vogue, Marie Claire UK and Marie Claire Italian.

Tyler's personal clients include celebraties such as David Beckham, Lily Allen, Liam Gallagher, Natalie Imbruglia, Jamiroquai, Take That, The Who, Oasis, The Spice Girls, Courtney Love, Victoria Beckham and artists such as Tracy Emin.

Tyler works in conjunction with top photographers such as Alex Cayley, David Bailey, David Sims, Steven Klein and Vincent Peters working with them on editorial and advertising campaigns.

EXPERTISE

For Tyler - hair is a true passion. His session stylists expertise lies in creating real hair - often edgy - but always relevant to its context. It may be a campaign for Prada, young kids sporting Levis in the summer heat of the Daytona Race track or a selection of the world's top models running the catwalk in New York, Paris or Milan.

Wherever the challenge of editorial or session work takes him, he has the ability to deliver truly original ideas that inspire those around him. Possibly one of the key reasons why the world's top photographers such as Vincent Peters and Norman Watson are keen to work with the session stylists..

Tyler explains: ' As a session stylists I look at people all the time, their faces, where they are coming from, knowing there is something there that will tell me about that person. It might be the way they stand or hold themselves, even something that is wrong or odd, but to me that is an inspiring quality about someone's look. People inspire me - not fashion'.
