Hot Heads The Look for 2010

Hair Care Advice - Hot off the Press
Written by Administrator
As designers launch their new collections, the ultimate hair trends for 2010 are emerging. Australian Hairdresser of the Year finalist and former title winner Tracey Hughes, creative director of award-winning Mieka Hairdressing in Collingwood, shared her top hairstyles for this year.

Hughes' signature looks for 2010 are inspired by the European catwalks. Youthful and feminine styles with messy volume for coral blondes and honey browns, Brigitte Bardot curls, ``up do's'' and quiffs for beige blondes, caramels and mahogany browns, and modern bobs that suit nocturnal shades of plum and black, or lighter platinum blondes, will be hot at hairdressing salons this year.

The winner of the 2010 Australian Hairdresser of the Year will be announced in March. British-born Hughes sees fewer clients these days, mostly travelling the world educating the other stylists, and training her Melbourne team.

ROMANTIC Youthful and feminine.

TRACEY'S TIPS:
  • Use a volumising and control product.
  • Tease the hair back with a soft bristle brush.
  • Smooth the end only so it is messy and playful, tie into pigtails, wrap a piece of the hair around the tie and knot to secure.

ENCHANTING Iconic styles from the past reinvented with a modern texture.

TRACEY'S TIPS:
  • Blow dry volumiser into the hair.
  • Use a hot curling tong, pin the curls into place, allow the curls to cool for half an hour.
  • Brush them out with a soft brush.

CHIC Sleek, clean lines create boyish charm.

TRACEY'S TIPS:
  • Suits icy blondes.
  • Shorter hair elongates the face and is slimming by exposing the neck.

CLASSIC Confident, ethereal glamour.

TRACEY'S TIPS:
  • Suits most face shapes.
  • Colour should be solid and glossy.
