WORRIED about the cuts? Time to head for a new career, hairdressing
Britain's hairdressing and beauty business is booming as consumers look for cheap treats to lift their mood. Last year, Brits made 340million visits to the hairdresser and spent a total of 5.2billion, up from 4.2bn in 2002. Hairdressing is one industry almost everyone uses and add-on services like eyebrow shaping, facials and nail bars are upping salons' profits.

I expect, utterly '' irrationally, that if I can get my hair to look better at the hairdressers, then the rest of the world will fall into step!
A few months ago, I was waiting to have my hair cut at the hairdressers, John Frieda's Mayfair salon. The mirrors make it appear as if the salon goes on and on into infinity an endless row of women sitting with their beige or blue gowns fastened at the neck.

Hairdressers against each other in round three of competition
The heat was on again this week as six hairdressers, 18 models and about 250 guests fronted for round three of Project GenerationNext. Competition director Rudy Marie said the prestigious local hairdressing competition for hairdressers, designed to encourage apprentices to hone their skills, was introduced to provide a creative platform for young stylists.

MAX'S Barber Shop is this year celebrating 45 years service in Goodna and Redbank. Owner Scott Jones, whose father Max Jones established the business in 1965, said the shop would celebrate with the usual offering of quality haircuts.
