When it comes to first impressions your locks say a lot. Waiting in line for my caffeine fix on a damp Saturday morning, my eyes wander to the barista. She looks flustered; her black hair is pinned off her face with a haphazard collection of 10 or more bobby pins.

Fringe dweller Hairdresser - Free hairdressing for homeless

IT IS an act of thanks that returns just as much as hairdresser Wanda Klute gives. When she was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the top of her spine last year, she suddenly had to consider two possible outcomes -- dying or spending the rest of her life in a wheelchair. But after a successful operation to remove the tumour, she felt so blessed the hairdresser wanted to give something back.

Hairdressing Life Support - What sustains Renya Xydis 

"I've got a six-year-old and a 10-year-old, and they're the strong things in my life. They continually motivate me in my hairdressing and  work, because I think that kids need inspired and inspiring parents to keep them going. I always knew I was going into hairdressing. For me, it's about nurturing and being creative. The creative part is the easiest because it just comes effortlessly now.
