Seventies Hairstyles

Do you remember the Farrah ‘do, the staple of all seventies hairstyles?  This decade had such an impact on pop culture with trends that still are viable in today’s society.  Whether feathered, long and straight, or spiky, the seventies sparked so many hairstyles that have become legendary.

Maybe you were hanging out at the drive-in in your hottest pair of bell bottoms, or perhaps you got all dressed up to head to the disco downtown.  With your best seventies hairstyle, you held your head high with confidence, and danced the night away.

In today’s world, while young girls might not be teasing their hair in hopes of being Charlie’s next angel, the influence of the styles from thirty years ago is quite prevalent.  When you look at some of the long hairstyles on celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, you can easily picture them onscreen in the seventies.  With her funky California look, she would be right at home in a pair of sassy bell bottoms.  Or picture Cameron Diaz’ short sassy hair, as she rocks out at a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert.

The purpose of trends, as with seventies hairstyles is to learn from them, and possibly perfect them decades later.  Sometimes like the body wave or a permanent was very popular in the late seventies.  But the look has improved over the years, and now wavy hair often appears as though you did not spend much time at the salon at all, yet still looks gorgeous.

Also, the layered look is something that is not brand new, but has been experimented with for quite some time.  Many of the models of the seventies had fierce layers that they enjoyed flipping up into curly ends, for a nice bouncy look.  Jessica Simpson shows us how fun this could be in one of her videos, filmed at a familiar seventies hangout, the roller rink.

And the seventies would not be the complete without ABBA the seventies pop icons. Seventies Hairstyles ABBA
Whether you were punk, rock and roll or Studio 54, you wore your hair with style in your best seventies hairstyles.  Now, those looks are being duplicated, and are still as lovely as ever.  Don’t put away your disco ball just yet, because there is a lot of life left from thirty years ago!
