Shoulder Length Hair, Foiled, Spliced, Coloured & CutShoulder length hair that has a free form look which is funky and street wise. Until early this year Maya had straight, waist-length hair that was home-dyed and cut only annually. She says it was "flat and boring".
Shoulder length hair cut and colour* In January, she had shoulder length hair, and with the opportunity for a Press Fashion makeover, Maya says she welcomed the opportunity to have her look updated with a more sophisticated image. Hayden de Dulin, of Loungehead, saw the makeover as a chance to add texture to Maya's hair, without losing any more of the shoulder length hair, to create a diverse style which could be worn sleek or "nutted out".
He coloured Maya's shoulder length hair with a warm caramel to complement her natural colouring, colouring the whole head after randomly splicing it with red foils, and completing the look with blonde foils and a 5cm rim of blonde "added for difference".
"This way you get the tones coming through from underneath the natural blonde."
Hayden says he rarely begins a shoulder length hair haircut and/or colour with everything set in concrete, preferring a personalised style to emerge as he works.
Maya's hair was texture cut, and the hair sliced out with scissors. "It is a diverse cut with no harsh lines," Hayden says.
"I love it," says Maya. "I'm so happy; Hayden has a client for life. It looks cool, is more sophisticated, and the shoulder length hair will be easy to maintain."
Makeup artist Charlotte Walmsley opted for a contemporary street look with Maya's makeup, saying it would easily carry her from the day into the evening.
Charlotte put the emphasis on the eyes, which she made dramatic, using Chanel's Argents eyeshadow trio, and outlining them with Elizabeth Arden's eyeliner that matches her new shoulder length hair style.
She says Maya has "big and lovely" eyes which she contoured with a dark colour through the socket of the eye and balanced by extending the eyebrows for a wing effect framed by her new shoulder length hair style. The lips were kept subtle, and were coloured with Elizabeth Arden's Breathless lipstick, a natural skin colour, and given a shine with lipgloss.
