Richard Kavanagh photo Shoot at NYFW   By Richard Kavanagh -Another amazing day of fashion and hair at NYFW for the S/S 2010 collections today. The day started early with prep for Australian designer Tony Maticievski's show. The collection was stunning with catwalk couture gowns in distressed neutral tones coupled with a super cool hairdo. Lead stylist,one of New Yorks finest and Australian expat the legendary Rodney Cutler designed a chic, rock'n'roll frech twist with a textured coif on top. Richard Kavanagh at ID Fashion week Dunedin My second day here at NYFW S/S 10 (abbreviating now!) and I spent the day at Karen Walker's show. It was so nice to have a rest from doing hair and just be interviewing and taking pictures. I got a great interview with Karen and a good look around backstage on camera, and if all goes well it will be on TV in a few hours (technology allowing!) (how many parentheses and exclamation points can I use in one paragraph?!)Richard Kavanagh photo shoot Just before Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, earlier this year, I had the privelege of working on a photoshoot for Australian Publication Oyster. The photographer was a guy I hadn't worked with before by the name of Stephen Chee and as you can see, he's not too shabby. I've never done a CV before and an agent asked me to provide one. Was quite a challenge putting it together, and I've probably left a whole lot of stuff out of it. Anyway, here it is...
RICHARD KAVANAGHCurriculum vitae Richard Kavanagh Photoshoot       Last week Richard Kavanagh did a really fun photo shoot with independent recording artist Miriam Clancy. I did her hair for her first album, so it really fun being able to work on her second album and do something totally different. We started the day at Miriams house and while she was having her makeup done, I layered some Redken Instant Polishing Prep and Redken For men Bulk Up on her slightly damp hair, twisted it into a loose top knot and secured with a coupld of U-pins to set while Make artist supremo Shirley Ann Simpson did her thing and I had a piece of toast. RAFW was amazing! did a cool shoot for Oyster Magazine while I was there (wait til you see it, beautiful girl, Beautiful photography by Stephen Chee and cool hair) and I recently found out that on Vogue.com, Arnsdorf (one of the shows I was hair director on) was their pick of hair looks for the week! I also hair directed Melbourne designer Ben Smith's label Anon. Richard Kavanagh with a hottie So I just got back to my hotel (well actually, I'm staying at my mum's place) in Sydney after another frantic day at Rosemount Australia Fashion Week. My first show yesterday was with Melbourne designer, Arnsdorf, and I just found out that it was one of the Vogue.com team's favourite shows. Richard Kavanagh Hair Straightener The following story inspired Richard Kavanagh to create his own professional styling tools including the famous Richard Kavanagh straitener- About fifteen years ago I had an incredible experience. While working in a small salon in Devonport, Auckland I was witness to the transformative power of a great hairdo. A woman came to the salon to have a haircut. New to the salon and painfully shy, she literally skulked into the salon hugging the walls and trying to make herself as small and invisible as possible.Looks created By Richard Kavanagh I just realised that I didn't post any pictures of the finished looks from iD Dunedin.
